What is different about Portuguese subtitles
Portuguese runs longer than English, so expect more line splits.
- Brazilian and European Portuguese differ in vocabulary, pronouns, and rhythm. A Brazilian audience notices European phrasing immediately, and the reverse is just as true.
- Nasal vowels are written with a tilde, as in ã and õ, and they change the word. A font without them produces something a reader cannot parse.
- The cedilla in ç is not decoration. It changes the sound, and a word like começar written without it is simply misspelled rather than merely unaccented.

Brazil uses você for almost everyone, while Portugal keeps tu for people you know and você at a distance.
