Method: a plan's per-minute figure is our calculation. It divides the monthly price by the minutes the plan includes and assumes all of them go to translation. Unused minutes, credit pools shared with other features and yearly billing change the real figure, and HeyGen says its credit usage can vary by feature, model, duration and generation type. VEED's prices depend on the visitor's region, so its figures are US list prices. Vid Hub Creator is quoted at its base price; regional prices exist.

What changes the price

  • Languages. Most tools charge again for each target language. VEED's pricing page says translating the same video into another language uses the minutes again, and a Vid Hub purchase covers one target language.
  • Lip sync. HeyGen charges 4 credits a minute without lip sync, 6 with Speed lip sync and 10 with Precision lip sync.
  • Translation or subtitles. Maestra counts a translated minute as two subtitle minutes.
  • Seats. VEED and Submagic charge per seat or member, and HeyGen Business is $149 a month plus $20 a month for each extra seat.
  • Billing period. Yearly billing lowers the monthly price on most plans: Happy Scribe Basic is $17 a month, or $8.50 a month billed annually.
  • People. Human work costs far more per minute: Happy Scribe's human proofreading and other human-made services cost from $2.00 a minute, and Rev's translated subtitles cost $6.49, $10.49 or $15.99 a minute, depending on the language.
  • Volume through an API. VEED's Subtitles API is $0.10 to $0.40 a minute; its page does not say whether that includes translation.

Who should pick what

  • One video, now: a single Vid Hub purchase, $3 for one video up to 20 minutes, after a free preview.
  • A few videos a month: a plan with a small allowance, such as Vid Hub Creator at $8/month (base price) for about 20 minutes.
  • Hundreds of minutes a month, and you edit too: Kapwing Pro has the lowest per-minute figure here at full use.
  • Broadcast formats or an API: Maestra.
  • Viewers should hear the new language: HeyGen, by credits on a plan or per minute through the API.
  • Every word must be right: human subtitles from Rev or Happy Scribe, or a machine translation checked by a native speaker.

Vid Hub prices for every plan are on Pricing. The language guides, such as Spanish and Arabic, cover what to check in each language. For what each tool is for, see Best tools to translate video subtitles.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to translate a video per minute?

On the subtitle plans compared here, from about $0.03 a translation minute (annual billing) to about $0.63 a minute (monthly billing) if you use the whole allowance. AI dubbing on HeyGen's Creator plan works out at about $0.19 a minute without lip sync, $0.29 with Speed lip sync and $0.48 with Precision lip sync. Human translated subtitles at Rev cost $6.49, $10.49 or $15.99 a minute, depending on the language.

How much does Vid Hub charge to translate a video?

$3 for one video up to 20 minutes and 500 MB, after a free preview of up to 20 seconds. Plans start at $8/month at the base price for about 20 minutes of video a month.

Is AI dubbing more expensive than subtitles?

Not always. HeyGen's dubbing works out at about $0.19 a minute without lip sync, $0.29 with Speed lip sync and $0.48 with Precision lip sync on its Creator plan (our calculation). The audio-only rate is above Kapwing Pro at about $0.03 a translation minute (annual billing) but below Vid Hub Creator at about $0.25 a minute at the base price, Maestra Basic at about $0.22 a translated minute and Submagic Starter at about $0.63 a minute (monthly billing). Lip sync raises the price.

Why do prices on review sites differ from the vendor's page?

Plans change often, and some vendors price by region: VEED shows other prices in some regions, and CapCut shows a quote after sign-in. Use the vendor's own page and check the date.

Do I pay again for each language?

On most tools, yes. VEED uses the minutes again for each language, and Vid Hub translates one target language per video, so a second language is a second video.
